A 51-year-old man is facing charges after a woman was assaulted in her home during a break-and-enter.
Around 1:00 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2016 police were called to the 0 block of Lillooet Street West. When they arrived, they found the woman suffering serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The woman said a man she did not know had broken into her home. When she confronted him, he allegedly assaulted her and fled the scene.
Human and canine officers searched the area, but were not able to locate a suspect.
On Feb. 22 police arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with the case after executing a search warrant on the man’s property.
The man was charged with break-and-enter and aggravated assault in connection with the case. He was also arrested in connection with another break-in that happened in June of 2016.
The man is expected to appear in court on Thursday morning.
