A Saskatchewan RCMP officer has been charged with possession of a restricted firearm just six months after facing gun related charges in Edmonton.

Cst. Dale Malbeuf is scheduled to appear in court in Swift Current on July 19 after being charged with one count of possession of a restricted firearm without a registration certificate.

Cst. Malbeuf has been suspended with pay since Dec. 13, 2016 after allegations he pointed a gun at a woman at a home in Edmonton. He was charged with one count of pointing a firearm and one count of careless use of a firearm in that case.

Cst. Malbeuf appeared in Edmonton Provincial Court on Dec. 14, 2016 in relation to the charges and was released with conditions.

The RCMP says since Cst. Malbeuf is already suspended with pay, there will be no change to his status. An ongoing RCMP code of conduct investigation will continue.
