Ground has been broken on three joint-use schools in Regina.

The new schools are being built in the city’s Greens on Gardiner, Harbour Landing and Rosewood Park neighbourhoods. They are among 18 schools that the province is building through a private-public partnership.

The schools will accommodate a total of more than 11,000 prekindergarten to Grade 8 students, including 3,300 in Regina and 5,700 in Saskatoon.

The joint-use schools are co-owned by the public and Catholic school divisions, and each one will include a 90-space early learning centre, as well as community space.

The schools are scheduled to be completed by September 2017.
