Shawn Bane Jr. and Samuel Emilus both put high expectations upon themselves entering the 2023 CFL football season and both surpassed them. Emilus and Bane Jr. finished Saturday’s loss to the Toronto Argonauts with 137 and 136 receiving yards respectively pushing them over the 1,000 yard mark on the season.

“They deserve it. They both had outstanding years, worked their tails off, and they’re both just high character, really good people on top of being outstanding football players,” said head coach Craig Dickenson.

Bane Jr. led the team in yards with 1,104, while Emilus finished the season with 1,097 yards.

“It’s super humbling. I’m grateful. I’m glad it was on a pretty big play. It’s pretty cool,” offered Bane Jr. saying he loved his first season in Saskatchewan despite the outcome. It’s an impressive break-out season for the 28-year old who spent the first two years of his career with the Calgary Stampeders catching 24 passes for 388 yards in his time there.
