Smoke filled part of Luther College high school after a fire started in the ducts of the building Thursday morning.

Fire crews were called to the school in the city’s west end around 10:30 a.m.

A spokesperson for the school said electrical work was being done when the fire broke out inside the ducts in the cafeteria area.

She said no students were in the building at the time, and administrative and cleaning staff all got out uninjured.

Firefighters were on scene clearing smoke from the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
