A southern Saskatchewan man is dead after the car he was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck Tuesday evening.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Highway 39 about six kilometres north of Yellow Grass.

The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man from Lang, was treated at the scene by EMS and STARS air ambulance personnel but died a short time after the crash, Milestone RCMP said in a news release.

The name of the man has not being released.

The driver of the semi, a 24-year-old man from South Carolina was not injured.

Traffic was diverted at the scene for several hours to allow a RCMP traffic re-constructionist to complete work. Train traffic was also delayed until the semi-trailer could be removed from the scene after it ended up adjacent to the railroad tracks.
