If you are in need of a little holiday cheer, head to the tracks!
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be on display in Regina and Moose Jaw on Monday.
The 1,000-foot train with more than a dozen decorated cars will arrive to the Mosaic Stadium parking lot in the Queen City at 5:45 p.m.
At 6 p.m., country artist Dallas Smith will perform for the crowd before the train heads to Moose Jaw. It will arrive at 3 Manitoba Street West, west of the CP Station, around 7:45 p.m., with a concert scheduled at 8 p.m.
The event is free, but people are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations for the local food bank. Since it first hit the tracks in 1999, the CP Holiday Train has raised more than $12 million and almost four million pounds of food.
"Everything you donate stays local. So, when you give in Regina, it stays in Regina,” said CP spokesperson Andy Cummings. “When you come out, you are helping your neighbors."
The Regina Food Bank says donations raised help the organization feed hundreds of Regina residents during the holidays.
"Support from this allows us to raise what we need for 2,000 holiday hampers in addition to what we do every day," said Regina Food Bank CEO Steve Compton.
The train made stops in Moosomin, Broadview, Wolseley, Indian Head and Qu'Appelle on Sunday. It is scheduled to arrive in Swift Current on Tuesday around noon.
