Former Regina mayor Pat Fiacco has been hired as the new CEO of Tourism Saskatchewan.
Fiacco stepped down as the city’s mayor last month after 12 years in office.
Tourism Minister Tim McMillan says Fiacco brings a broad base of knowledge and experience to the Crown corporation.
"I am confident that Mr. Fiacco is the right person to help move this industry forward," McMillan said in a news release.
Fiacco says Saskatchewan is fast becoming a destination of choice for tourists and world-class events.
“I look forward to continuing that work by building on our provincial image,” he said.
Saskatchewan’s tourism industry generates $1.7 billion annually. Fiacco will be paid a salary of $165,000 a year.
