RCMP are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a 21-year-old woman at knifepoint in Yorkton.

Police say the incident happened while the woman was walking on Laurier Avenue, one block south of Broadway Street around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A man in a pickup truck asked the woman for directions, then hopped out of his vehicle and forced her into the back seat of the truck at knifepoint.

The woman managed to escape and called 911.

No injuries were reported.

RCMP say a similar incident happened on March 19, but they didn't provide further details.

The man is described as 24 to 30 years old, five-foot-six to five-foot-nine with an average build and a round face. He was wearing a black leather jacket, jeans and running shoes.

The vehicle he was driving is described as a newer, black, four-door Dodge or Ford pickup truck with a Saskatchewan license plate.
