A man is facing charges after he allegedly impersonated a police officer and led authorities on a vehicle pursuit through Estevan.

On Tuesday night, police were called to a local business for a report of a man who was impersonating a police officer.

The man left the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived, but police caught up with the suspect a short distance away.

Police pursued the vehicle through the city after the driver refused to stop. At one point, the driver lost control and clipped a police vehicle, causing minor damage.

The vehicle drove down some railway tracks and onto Highway 39, where it went out of control and became stuck near a grain elevator.

The driver, a 57-year-old Nova Scotia man, was taken into custody without incident.

Robert Lake has been charged with theft under $5,000, impersonating a police officer, flight from police and dangerous driving. He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
