The Weyburn Red Wings are in the red, and the SJHL team says its financial troubles could spell the end of the organization.
Currently, the team is about $180,000 short of its budget for the season, in large part due to a significant decrease in attendance.
“We’re struggling,” said Red Wings president Larry Tribiger. “We’re just making it from game to game, more or less.”
Tribiger says the club, which has been around for 53 years, is hoping to raise $20,000 at its annual Sportsman’s Dinner on Saturday.
