After months of delays, demolition work has finally begun on the old Plains Hotel in Regina.
Demolition has been put off several times over the past year, but on Thursday morning, equipment moved in and began the process of tearing the hotel down.
A large chunk of the top two floors had already been torn down by noon.
The plains is being bulldozed to make way for a new hotel and condominium skyscraper.
Developers pledge that once complete, the new building will be the tallest in the province.
The Plains Hotel had been closed for almost two years, and the building's iconic weather tower was removed over a year ago. The weather tower will be incorporated into the design of the new building.
