Two people are dead after their car collided with a semi truck and caught on fire near Estevan.

The car was heading east on Highway 18 when it entered the westbound lane and crashed into a semi truck which was hauling fertilizer. Immediately, the car started on fire and was burnt beyond recognition.

The two occupants of the car were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Their names will not be released at this time.

The driver of the semi truck was treated by EMS for minor injuries.

Highway 18, approximately 15 km west of Estevan, was expected to be closed for six to eight hours while police investigated.
