A time capsule hidden within the recesses of the front facade of the Saskatchewan legislature saw the light of day for the first time in more than 100 years Thursday.

Inside the box was a veritable trove of goodies that gave a glimpse into the birth of a then-new province.

Among the items were old documents, a map and some money.

The time capsule and its contents will be sent to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum to be processed and catalogued.

From there, it will go on display at the legislature as part of the province's centennial celebrations.
